Giving in to Common Sense
After finding out about the looming threat of some friends starting up their own website and reviewing my server stats I decided that it was time for me to redesign this site. It's only real design problem was that it looked CRAPPY when using Internet Explorer to view the page. My server stats said that 60% of the people coming to the site used Internet Explorer. Common sense prevailed and I reasoned that I should make the page appeal as much as I can to more than half of the people visiting it.
To get a little technical, the problem had to do with Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox, two different internet browsers, interpreting my CSS styles differently. Mozilla rendered the page nicely setting the main posting column neatly between the left and right navigation columns and at their same level. Internet Explorer decided that it didn't like making this site look nice and always shoved the starting point of the posts column way down below the left navigation column. Annoying, but I have never before really cared because I use Firefox and it didn't effect me.
The 4:1 ratio of people using IE compared to those using Firefox was kind of a disappointing ratio for me and my shabby design. That's I have redesigned the site to make it look good to all of you using Internet Explorer. Now you can hopefully find the site a bit more aesthetically pleasing and maybe enjoy it just that much more.
As to all of you Firefox users, I am sorry. The site now looks like crap to you. More like crap than it looked like to the IE users before the redesign. Please help?
